Jim Findlay works as a director, designer and producer across the boundaries of theater, visual art, music and video. Recent original performances: “Tomorrow is Cancelled” (2025), “Vine of the Dead”(2015-2023), “Electric Lucifer” (2018), and “Dream of the Red Chamber” (2014). Recent direction projects: David Lang‘s “Whisper Opera”by David Lang and “Soundlines” by George Lewis. Recent designs: “Kramer/Fauci” at NYU Skirball, “Burnout Paradise” at Astor Place Theater, “Over and Over/Vorbei Nicth Vorbei” for Komische Oper Berlin, interactive video for Graham Reynolds Mountain tour, and “Mary Motorhead / Trade” by Emma O’Halloran for Irish National Opera. His video installation collaboration with Ralph Lemon “Meditation” is in the permanent collection of the Walker Art Center. He is a Creative Capital Artist (2016) and MacDowell Fellow (2012 and 2016). Recognition includes three Obie Awards, two Bessie Awards, Lortel and Hewes Awards. Residencies: Baryshnikov Arts Center, UCross and Mount Tremper Arts. He is a founder of Collapsable Giraffe and a founder and partner artist at the Collapsable Hole. He is the Producer & Director of Operations at St. Ann’s Warehouse.
